Ngoketunjia—Discover the Tradition of Cameroon

Ngoketunjia refers to a grasslands plane overlooked by the Ngoketunjia mountain within the North West Province of Cameroon. The region is comprised of over 13  villages of Semi-Bantu and Fulani peoples.

The history of the Ngoketunkjia peoples can be traced back to the 13th century. Even today, this is a society steeped in tradition and traditions that have remained unchanged for over 800 years.

This is a society where the traditional rulers and groups co-exist with the mechanisms of states. Rulers and groups whose lineages may have been appointed by the original founders 800 years ago.

This is a society where ancestral powers and the divine powers of masquerades and juju’s  have their predestined roles in the normal routine of the people.

PCDI acts as an umbrella organization for the local community and PCDI can assist the tourist or tour group by organizing cultural dances (including the appearance of jujus/masqueraders) or by providing local information (hotels, tour guides etc).

This is a society where the traditional practices in medicines and handicrafts play a pivotal role in the daily lives of its people.
